Turkey Burgers

Don't get me wrong, I love red meat...but every once in a while it's nice and refreshing to have ground turkey. Last night I decided to make turkey burgers! Burgers are very easy to put together, and now with the warm weather I was able to grill them which gives them that nice smoky flavor. I didn't make exact measurements when assembling these, but they turned out to be the tastiest turkey burgers I've ever had!

1 1/2 pound of ground turkey
1 egg
Lots of dashes of:
Garlic powder
Chopped parsley
Italian Spices/herbs

Take the meat add spices and egg, mix all together and form into patties. Grill

I topped mine with muenster cheese, lettuce, tomato and a squirt of ketchup.

Review: Favorite Cereals

Hey Everyone! As you know, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Our bodies have been at rest between 5-9 hours and the first thing it needs when we wake up is some type of fuel to help it get going. Even if you aren't hungry first thing in the morning it's still important to have some fruit or even just a slice of bread with peanut butter or jam.
Personally I like to eat cereal and here are some of my favorites:

Kashi Golean

Kashi Golean: This is a GREAT cereal because it's packed with so much protein, and protein keeps you fuller longer. The taste is slightly sweet, but also a nice crunchy wholesome flavor. 1 cup only has 140 calories.

      Bear Naked Nut Cluster Crunch:
This cereal is TASTY. The two flavors are maple nut and honey almond. The thing I really like about this is that it has a granola type texture but without the calories that granola has. 1 cup of this is about 210 calories. It kept me full and I was impressed with that. The only minor concern I had was that it's slightly sweet. But I am still in love with this cereal.

Cascadian Farm Honey Nut O's: My favorite cereal since I was a kid. These are delicious, not to sweet, and what else can I say...who doesn't love cheerios? I really like these because they aren't as sweet as the Bear Naked cereal, but at the same time you still have a nice sweet flavor. I only wish they had more protein....but overall you can never go wrong with cheerios. 110 calories per cup.

Natures Path Flax Plus Multigrain Flakes: LOVE these. They have a nice crunchy nutty flavor. I feel so healthy eating these, and I love them because the flavor is delicious. Since they are multigrain they will keep you full. Definitely recommend these in place of regular corn flakes.

Tofu Salad

Hi Everyone!
This recipe is very simple and filling- it's a flavorful salad topped with simply pan seared tofu.
Salads are my favorite because you can top it with almost anything and it all seems to mesh well together- and they are healthy :)
You can modify it any way that your heart desires, but here is what I used--

Spring mix
Green bell pepper
Baby tomatoes
Green onion
Dried Craisins- Cherry
Extra Firm Tofu
Lemon wafers
 Salad dressing: Bolthouse Caesar

For the tofu- dry it really well then just simply cut into cubes and sear on a pan until all sides are brown. I like my tofu without plain, but I know many people prefer marinades and seasoning.

Baked Ranch Chicken Breast

Hey Everyone!
Today I'd like to share with you a recipe for ranch chicken breasts. I'm a huge fan of chicken so I'm always looking for unique ways to flavor my chicken. This recipe is easy and delicious, I guarantee everyone will love it.

About 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
1/2 packet dry ranch dressing mix
Panko bread crumbs- I used Italian seasoned panko bread crumbs
2 eggs
Parmesan cheese

Preheat oven to 350
Start by cracking the 2 eggs in a bowl and whisk them together, these will be the "glue" for the bread crumbs.
Next combine about 3/4 to a cup of breadcrumbs and 1/2 a packet of ranch seasoning in another bowl. Combine in parmesan cheese- as much as you'd like.
It is your choice whether you want to slice chicken or keep it whole but dip the chicken into the egg batter then throw into the breadcrumb mixture until its all covered up. Do this for all chicken then place on a baking sheet.
Bake at 350 for about 30 minutes!

*Healthy tip-
Panko breadcrumbs are a lighter option vs. regular breadcrumbs. Only 1 cup of panko bread crumbs has about 200 calories vs. regular bread crumbs have a whopping 440 per cup.

Easy Tomato Sauce

Hi Everyone! Welcome to my blog. My first recipe is a simple tomato sauce that I put together last night. Before I had always bought sauce from a jar but last night I had a little extra time on my hands and I figured, hey why not try to make a pasta sauce from (almost) scratch. This sauce is rich, tangy, full of flavor, and 10x better than store bought sauce. I really encourage you to give it a try.

(makes enough for 6)

1 1/2 can of  diced tomatoes ....I used Hunts
1/2 can of tomato paste...........I used Simple Truth
4 cloves of fresh garlic, chopped up finely
3 leaves of fresh basil chopped
couple dashes of oregano
dash of sugar (if you like a sweeter sauce)
enough olive oil to cover skillet

Start by pouring olive oil into skillet
Put chopped garlic into skillet until golden, DO NOT burn
Pour in can of tomatoes and tomato paste, stir
Put in basil leaves, salt, (pepper if you like), oregano and sugar if you'd like
Stir and then serve over pasta, chicken, fish, or use as dip for bread.
